WELCOME TO KATU ANIME ART CLUB
We are a unique group of talented artists who wish explore the principles and elements of design while having fun!
Our Group HistoryKatu begin in the spring of 2007 after many successful Anime art classes at a local art's and craft store. Students wanted to be able to share their latest creations with each other with out having to wait a week for our next class. Thus Katu was born on DA, one centralized place where everyone could met. The club ran for about a year growing with great talent before management of the group became difficult. More members meant more time spent sifting though uploads for the groups founder Charfade. The group went dead for some time, the only way it would be reborn is if DA released a better method of managing clubs. Charfade never gave up hope that one day she could revisit her old students and be a mentor again. So she kept a close eye one the DA group system developments waiting for them to release them. Finally in the winter of 2009 Katu became an official group of DA.
Katu's rebirthThe foundation of Katu's purpose will always stay the same. We are here to share our work and help each other grow developing our artistic skills. Whether you consider your art a hobby or something you want to do as a career, you will have a home here.
Everyone in the group is expected to be supportive towards the other members by commenting on work, offering critiques, taking part in contests, and sharing artistic tips.
Joining and Submitting WorkKatu is now open to anyone who wants to be apart of a growing community of artistic talent. Those who are used to the DA system will need to get used to the new implementations of the new groups format. You must either be invited to the group or click the join the group icon at the top of this page. You will notice members of the group can submit content to the group. Once content is submitted, the deviations goes though a voting process. Ideally what gets submitted and accepted is determined by group members voting yes/no.
Submitting work to the "Favorites Gallery" should only be tutorials, and resources dedicated to helping fellow members improve.
Submiting work to the "Featured Gallery" should be your own work, which has shown a considerable amount of effort put into it. While this is an Anime Art Club, it is not limited to just Anime art. Game art, animals/monsters or art depicting Japanese sub-culture is also accepted.
There are also sub folders inside the "Featured Gallery" This should give members an idea of what kind of content is okay to submit to the group. The following is a breakdown of the folders acceptable content.
Featured - Gallery of Katu related materials, group contests, and our mascot
Game Art - Anything that has to deal with games and art
Anime Manga Fan Art - Characters from your favorite anime shows, manga books etc.
Original Art - your own personal creations
Aliens, Animals, Monsters and Creatures - Original art of things that go bump in the night!
More information will be coming in the days ahead, but for now take a look around. Play with the features and see if you can get a handle of this new system. Like mentioned before, Katu is also now open to anyone who wants to be apart of a growing community of artistic talent. So feel free to invite your friends!
